Hello, I was just driving past this road today and happen to drive past this speed camera that looks like a Peek Speed Camera. It is definately a red light camera but just wondering does this camera also catches speeding? Link: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.619067,-1...3312!8i6656 I don't see the white markings like you normally do with Peek Cameras. I'm just curious as I happen drive past it around 32MPHish when it a 30. ( Dazed out. ) Thanks.

Unless things have changed, they can in theory measure speed but they are not type approved. So they only actually enforce red lights.

32mph (which is likely 30/31 actual speed) wouldn't trigger anyway. 35mph is the usual start of enforcement.

I was curious because majority of the GASTO and PEEK Cameras I have drove past have those white lines running across the road. I think they are there for some sort of secondary measurment? I've seen a site also in Leicester where its measures speed and operates as a red light camera. https://i.gyazo.com/c997c61029f9b1e83c7d11ccab30b88d.jpg |

Corroboration works in 2 ways. Either 2 snaps with a particular interval allows the primary measurement to be confirmed.
Or a timed snap to a given mark for a single picture. -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver

So is there need for a secondary measurement? Like the horizontal lines for it to snap speeders Confused Kinda paranoid as I can only get 6points This post has been edited by sonnyred1: Tue, 5 Jun 2018 - 21:58 |

OP. A bit of (non-judgmental) advice.
In this and your other threads questioning camera operation and NIP rules you state your indicated speed was just over the limit and as a result worried about getting caught speeding. You also state you're a new, inexperienced driver. Learn to drive at an indicated speed at the limit or below. Not just over. If you continue driving just over the limit you'll end getting caught. At the very least you'll end up £100 lighter. This post has been edited by peterguk: Wed, 6 Jun 2018 - 07:33 -------------------- |

Indeed, if you know your speed that precisely, why not drive 2mph slower and stop the angst? Or 5mph faster and know for sure?

Nevertheless, 32 in a 30... The supreme court said 31 in a 30 deserves an absolute discharge, 32 isn't far off. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php

You just argue in the court of first instance that, following the comments made by the Supreme Court, an absolute or at most a conditional discharge would be appropriate for doing 32 in a 30. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php

I got flashed by a red light camera in New Cross in London a couple of years ago. I subsequently got done for speeding, not red light jumping.

So? We know many RLC can be ‘speed on green’, this isn’t one of the, as pointed out above.

I’d be surprised if it was ever proceeded with. The only time I’m aware of a speed less than the 10% + 2 threshold being proceeded with was when the speed was argued down (on one version) to 34mph. Such a scenario is the only way I can see a prosecution for 31 proceeding - where it had started off as 35 or more. -------------------- Moderator
