The Bill is shown on the Parliament website here: http://services.parliament.uk/bills/2017-1...ofpractice.html
It has already had its first reading in the Commons, and the second reading is scheduled for 02/02/2018. This is what is known as a 'handout bill', which means it has Government support, but not enough space to fit into the Government's legislation timetable, so they get a back bench MP to bring it in as a Private Member's Bill. The purpose of the Bill is to replace the Codes of Practice of both the BPA and IPC with a regulatory Code of Practice administered by a Government department, who will also have a means of imposing meaningful sanctions against PPCs who are in breach of the Code. -------------------- We'll fight them on the roads, we'll fight them in the courts, and we shall never, ever, surrender

From what i can gather it will make the obtaining of drivers details more difficult for the PPC, or that could be just radio speak!! |

Sounds like just tinkering at the edges ....the whole industry and its practices needs sorted out If a decently constructed and enforced meaningful single code of practice is introduced I think it would be a bit more than tinkering round the edges. That said, now that all charges are (said to be at least) contractual its hard to reconcile them 'preventing unauthorised/abusive parking' (as they sell it to government and their customers) with 'selling someone else's parking/road/other space for a fat profit' which is what the contractual model amounts to - noting that that includes selling it to someone who already has an absolute right to park there in residential cases - about as welcome as trying to sell icebergs to the White Star line! -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!
