I imagine the most obvious answer to this would be "wait 14 days and see", but does anyone know if the tripod speed traps require a second unit to stop offenders? The unit looked like this:

This was in somerset a few days ago. Earlier, by Bristol, I'd gone past one of the community "this is your speed" things, which seemed to think that 26/27mph was my actual speed, with the speedo reading perhaps a little over 30mph. I maneuvered past a van, parked with its wheels on one side on the pavement, that was blocking the immediate view of the mobile unit. Whilst I imagine it's not a legal excuse, the taught instinct when overtaking is accelerate around an obstruction, so my fear is that I may have hit ~35mph at the initial point of overtake (which I imagine is where the gun was pointed). I drive a hybrid, which has quite a bit of poke from the electric motors at slower speeds, so it's very easy to zip around things when needed, which is what contributes towards my fear.

Where I'm a bit confused is that another oncoming motorist was flashing at me from quite a distance, and I'm not sure whether this would have been done because they'd noticed the unit on my side of the road (although they'd have been quick to notice, based on the obstructions), or because there was another officer tucked away further up the road. I didn't see anything else further up, mind. This was the point where they flashed, with the speed trap practically unnoticeable on the left:

Of course, as mentioned, I'll simply need to wait and see, but I have a problem with anxiety and so feel compelled to ask if anyone else has seen/experienced similar before?

Probably all captured on video which will be analysed later to send out NIP's.

The 14 day wait I'm afraid.

Taught instinct because everything you overtake should be travelling slower than the prevailing limit?

If you are overtaking a parked vehicle there is little need to accelerate, as it is unlikely to match your speed.
