PCN 48J - is it worth appealing? Options

Hi, I received a PCN today in the post. It's a 48J stopped in a restricted area outside a school. I stopped in the middle of the road as there was a car coming out of the side road ahead of me to the right. While I was stopped in the middle of the road, my son spotted his friend walking down the pavement and decided to jump out of the car to walk with his friend. You can clearly see my son exiting the car in the 2nd photo online. is it worth me trying to appeal this PCN on the basis that a) I'm not actually parked or pulled in over the zigzags, I'm stopped in the road and b) the reason I stopped was to allow the car to come out of the side road ahead of me.

Once I've figured out how to reduce the size of the photo and upload it, I will do so!

Thank you all, I already submitted my appeal yesterday so haven't followed it up with anything additional but I've read through everything posted here since I submitted and am indeed going personally on Monday, so will argue the point on the signage.

I'll report back and let you know how I get on.

Just wanted to give an update on this. I had to postpone the tribunal due to illness but went earlier this week, and lost! I argued my case about the sign stating 'No stopping ON the makrings" but the adjudicator was having none of it. He said the no stopping is effective to the centre of the carrigaway; no stopping allowed not just on the markings, but into the centre of the carriageway. I made the point that the signs say ON markings and there's no mention about into the centre of the carriageway but he said they couldn't put that much info onto every sign and that it's my duty as a driver to learn the rules of the signs, etc.

It is not only the signs that specifically say On the Markings, it is the legislation that the signs reflects.
The adjudicator has a greater duty then any motorist to learn the rules and this one has failed to.
They have applied their own interpretation.
