Have you received a NIP? - Yes
Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle concerned (is your name and address on the V5/V5C)? - Yes
Did the first NIP arrive within 14 days? - Yes
Although you are the Registered Keeper, were you also the keeper of the vehicle concerned (the person normally responsible for it) at the time of the alleged offence? - Yes
Were you driving? - Yes
Which country did the alleged offence take place in? - England

It told me some questions were missing but I’ve copied this bit anyway

Was I driving too fast, yes, was I doing 101mph, south of Birmingham about 100 mile away from home, probably.

Did I have any excuse, nope I just hate motorways and wanted to get to my destination ASAP,

So what’s next, I’m a single earner, 2 car family, 2 young kids, ok salary, we are getting by, could I survive without driving and taking the ban. Probably, could I handle a massive fine financially no,

I’ve not long got the 4 year mark on my previous 3 point, 36 in a 30mph.

So what are my options....

For 101 the case will be decided in court, 6 points is very likley although a short ban isn’t impossible you’d have to work quite hard to upset the bench enough to award one. Fine is income related and circa 1 weeks take home pay (salary less tax and NI only) plus £85 costs and a surcharge of 10% (£30 minimum).

Thanks for the quick reply, do you mean an actual court visit (sorry to be dense)

so a ban is unlikely then, I have to drive from Bristol to Redditch once a month, if I got a 56 day ban which I've read, it wouldn't be the end of the world to miss a couple of visits, I think the more concerning issue is being banned over Christmas.

Just a case of being honest, sincre, apoglising and respectful should be enough then to avoid that (hpoefully)

They will probably issue a postal plea option first (Single Justice Procedure) - if they want to consider a ban they may request your presence.

It wouldn't be 56 days - at most 2-3 weeks. But it may be many months before you hear. (They have 6 months to prosecute and often leave it that long!)

It is the Daily Wail, but most online papers have reported it. 5 point and £390, however the £390 may be income related.

Not sure if trying to get to hospital would be seen as good or bad mitigating circumstances.

As that would normally be a slam dunk 6 points it appears they took it as mitigating. That said I think a not guilty or SRNTE plea would have had some legs. I don’t think it’s really that helpful to the OP though.

They can ban you or take pity on you. I know someone who was lucky and they felt sorry for her. She was crying in court and took pity. It's quite serious
