Had my car SORNED long back but as no space on my drive, parked it as follows (see pic). This is my house and my pavement yet it was clamped. I had to pay 260 pounds and was told that I would get 160 back if I get it taxed within 15 days? I don't want to drive this car so I don't understand this. Can I appeal the entire fine, as I say I had already had it SORNED.

The engine is dead on this car too

It's on the public road. You are banged to rights.

So it has a Statury Off Road Notification and yet was parked on a public road?

I think that answers your question?

This is my house and my pavement

Your house, yes.
Your pavement - unlikely, normally belongs to the council as part of the highway (unless a private development).
Your road (on which the car was parked) - no.

In no way is it your pavement. The car is ON the road, so your Statutory OFF Road Notification has been breached.

Are you just trolling?

1) Pay up
2) Keep car on private land

If you get a scrapper to come and take it away, make sure you notify the DVLA, do not leave it to the scrapper to do. That can go wrong and you find someone is driving it and you are still the registered keeper.

Yes - but to get it taxed, you will need a current MOT and insurance

You cannot get it taxed unless it has an MoT, which may be a problem if it has run out and the car is immobile, and you also need to insure it if it is not on SORN.

For the purposes of the continuous insurance requirements, the car needs to be insured if it is not on SORN. However, if it is parked on a public road, it is being "used" on a public road, regardless of whether or not it is drivable, and must be insured.
