Hello,

I parked outside a carpet shop in Nottingham last night, the company was closed and there were spare parking spots and I didn't see any signs, until I returned to the car and seen a parking sticker on my window

I have attached a copy of the parking fine and the sign (looks brand new)

I have heard that this parking company are cowboys and to ignore the letters they send? Is this the best option? I have also heard that you are to only pay fines from the council, parking eye and a select other few.

Any help would be appreciated as £100 seems a bit steep!

I have looked on the forum, but only found older posts so thought if any laws had changed then it may be worth starting a new thread

Thank you for taking the time to look at this

The driver

Ignoring has not been the advice since 2012,

You edit the post so that the identity of the driver cannot be inferred. Use "the driver ......" etc.

You appeal this AS THE KEEPER so that the appeal arrives on day 26 after parking. So, as the keeper, you inspected the site and the signs could not be read because they were not illuminated and were none obvious and could not form a contract then that will be your appeal. Take photos without flash to show the non visibility.

For your address on the appeal vary it so that it is not the same as the address on the V5 document. Not sufficiently different that a response will not be delivered but sufficient that you will notice it. A mis-spelling perhaps?

The aim is to not get them to apply to the DVLA for the keeper details nor issue a Notice to Keeper within 56 days. Either means that they cannot transfer liability from the unknown driver to the keeper. The keeper has no obligation to identify the driver.

To expand on Ostell's advice to vary your name or address only slightly. EG, Grene instead of Green.

If their NtK is anything like their NtD and signage, they will fail PoFA spectacularly!

Is there a set document for this type of case?

You need to edit your 1st post as Ostell said in post #2.

Post up your draft appeal - again follow the guidance given by Ostell in post #2 - and the experts will look over it for you.

You've been told twice now to edit your first post

It's your choice, of course, but not doing so may well snatch defeat from the jaws of success
