Hi,

I see other people getting offered speed awareness courses for similar offences? Is 84 on a motorway over the threshold for a course?

In another post someone was advised that at 86 he would be eligible for one.

So what’s the general rule or is it a bit random and lucky dip.

Were you on a smart motorway with a lower speed limit indicated. On a normal 70mph limit you normally get offered one in England and Wales up to 86. Was it in Scotland? No courses in Scotland. Have you done a course before? There is no absolute right to a course, though they are normally offered in E+W when the same course hasn't been done in last 3 years.

Has more than 4 months elapsed since the date of the alleged offence?

If it was this case (ONE CASE ONE THREAD, for what should now be an obvious reason) it's because you were doing 87, more than 86, or is this another NIP?
