I have only been driving for just over a week and last night i was forced to increase my speed in a 30mph zone due to 2 men in the car next to me nearly forcing me off the road. Their plan was to make me get caught by the speed camera that i was unaware of and the succeeded. i feel stupid for it but it is unfair as i only need 6 points to lose my licence. i was scared of what they wer going to do so my natural instinct was to increase my speed to get away from them! i was just wondering what happens next and what are the possibilities of my penalty? dry.gif

I would wait to see if you get a NIP (notice of intended prosecution)comes through the post within the next 14 days or so. If it does arrive use the NIP wizard and post the details here.

Many of the guys on this site offer sound advice and Im sure that they will advise of possibilities in due course.

Tell us more about what happened? Did you manage to report this incident to police so there is some sort of record you could refer to when you contest the speeding allegation? Did you manage to get any index number? How did they try to ram you off the road? I assume they were tail gating you. Unfortunately this isn't a defence to speeding, although perhaps you could use it for mitigation if it came to court. Was there any oppourutunity for you to pull over?

yep they wer tailgating me then pulling along side me! unfortunately i did not get ther registration number. to be honest i was too busy concentrating on what they were doing to even think about nething else. it was on the way into liverpool city centre and as the camera flashed they went past and hung out of their car window and said 3 points so i feel i was victimised. mellow.gif i dnt no how fast i was going but it was over 40mph on a 30mph road. im really worried and dnt want to lose my licence! what do u think? xx

Only way you can know for sure is when the NIP arrives, then you post the details on here via the NIP wizard and people can then deal with the options. You have already had good advice from Gumby

Well I do have to agree at the end of the day. I understand the duress you were in by those other drivers, but as the driver you are responsible for what speed you do. I know it is easy to say this from someone who wasn't there at the time - but the best thing you could have done was to concentrate more on your driving (not those idiots) pull off, stop, lock your windows and call 999 or shout for help, or if you know the area drive to the nearest police station to report it in person.
