Apologies as this post may be in the wrong section but i am unsure which section is most relevant.
After reviewing many of the posts on this form many of the driving offence issues seem to be made worse by the fact that the DVLA database may not have the V5 registered at the correct address. The owners have failed to update the V5 etc... About 10 Years Ago i had many vehicles and one of the cars was scrapped. I requested a scrap yard collect the car and they gave me £100.00 cash. I then foolishly lost the V5 and cant remember the registration plate. Fortunately the vehicle was SORN at the time of scrapping so i have had no mail from the DVLA regarding the vehicle. As i had lost the V5 i was unable to declare the vehicle as scrapped so its been SORN on the DVLAs database for the past 10 years. As the vehicle is still registered against my name (But SORN) i am concerned that if the vehicle is put back on the road i could be accused of the offences. I contacted the DVLA who were very unhelpful as they could only confirm the status of any of my vehicles where i was able to provide the registration plate. I explained the situation and they said they could provide me with details of the vehicles registered against my name and address where i was able to tell them the registration plate, which is very frustrating. I then realised that any data held against me i should have access to under GDPR regulations. I requested the information under this process and they declined to tell me all vehicles registered against my name and address. I then requested the information under the freedom of information act and they also declined. All i want to know is what vehicles are currently registered against my name and the DVLA will not inform me. Has anyone on here got any suggestions as i would like so make sure all my vehicles are correctly detailed on the DVLAs database. I have contacted the DVLA several times to resolve the issue but i get the response "computer says no" Kind regards any advice is much appreciated. |

How do you know it has been SORN for the last 10 years without Reg Number?
You can try finding reg from another source.... insurance documents or company ??? This post has been edited by DancingDad: Fri, 11 Jan 2019 - 15:44 |

10 yrs or so ago , sorn had to be updated yearly , so if the vehicle was reg at your currant address , you would have had multiple letters and fines etc by now
sorn changed to continuous sorn about the same time as tax discs disappeared |
