Hi All

My wife got a letter to ask who was driving the car when it did 57 in a 50. She said it was me.

I have now had another NIP addressed to me asking for the same info. Offence dates 19/11/2018

Does a 14 day rule apply?

Thanks

Dillon

The ( VERY) first one would be sent to whoever is named on the V5c Do you know who that is and have you seen the V5c and when they got the initial notice .Could it be a Rental or Leasing company?

Not to your NIP as it wasn't the first in the chain.

If you think about it, as the recipient of a notice has 28 days to reply a 14 day notice period for any notice other than the first would be inconvenient in the extreme.

Same info but you have to incriminate yourself. Failing to do this would see them pursuing a separate offence (with a higher penalty).

Not sure how to reply to individual queries.

Thanks all.

To be clear, it's her car and I was driving it. She received the first letter and advised that I was the driver and gave my details.

Now I have received a second NIP asking for the same info again.

Is this normal procedure?

Yes, you now have to reply and give your own details. If you don't, you commit a serious offence.

To be pedantic, and to avoid confusion, you haven't received a 2nd NIP at all. This is the first NIP YOU have received.

And as stated above, it is perfectly normal for you to receive a NIP in your name after nomination by A N Other.

If you haven't taken one within three years, a course is the most likely outcome (no points).

To be really pedantic, only the registered keeper receives a NIP

The OP's received an S172 request to identify the driver
