Just a quick question on this. How long do they have to give you a court date for the speeding offence? It has now been 6months today from the date that I got caught speeding. All I had was a letter saying I should expect a court date and from then I have had nothing. |

Thanks for your info Crystal, no doubt I will be on the site reading everyhting that I can until its coming out of my ears. I'm going to be speaking with a solicitor about it soon to as one of my friends has one that I should be able to get advice from aswell. Im just worried about having to go to court. I just think it's so worng to put people through things like this for something that isn't so bad as to justify it. |

NIP Details and Circumstances What is the name of the Constabulary? - Merseyside Date of the offence: - December 2006 Date of the NIP: - 5 days after the offence Date you received the NIP: - 9 days after the offence Location of offence (exact location as it appears on the NIP: important): - End of M62 heading into Liverpool. ( not given like this on letter cant remember what it said as i sent it back at the begining of Jan ) Was the NIP addressed to you? - Yes Was the NIP sent by first class post, second class or recorded delivery? - First How many current points do you have? - 0 Provide a description of events (if you know what happened) telling us as much about the incident as possible - some things that may seem trivial to you may be important, so don't leave anything out. Please do not post personal details for obvious reasons - After finishing Work at 09:00am on the morning of the 29/12/06 I Was going to pick up my passport from the passport office in Liverpool. It was a clear dry morning and I headed up to Liverpool using the M62. Now afew days later I receive a NIP in the post. It states that I have been caught Speeding doing 76mph on the M62 ( at the end ) near Liverpool at around 09:30am. It is the first time i have ever used the part of the motorway and it is still 3 lanes, I know I was in the middle lane when I got flashed, and there was no other traffic around at the time. As it's the first time I have ever had anything like this I filled in all the boxes required Including the correct address which they had wrong and sent it straight back . I though I would then get a letter saying I need to pay however much and 3points which would have been bad enough! But to my suprise I then receive another letter ( 29/1/07 ) saying I would be getting a court date. I then phoned the number given on the letter to find out why, The women that answered who, I felt was rather rude in the manor she spoke to me said, "for speeding" I said "yes I understand that but why do I have to go to court for doing 76mph on a motorway when the speed limit is 70mph?". To which I got the reply "hmm well I think you will find its a 50mph!" then I got that sick feeling in my stomach that you get. So I said "ooh right, please could I get a copy of the picture sent to me?" "No you cant, will that be all?" "yes I suppose it is, thanks bye." That is the point i am upto at this moment in time waiting to hear about a date for Magistrates court. Any advice on what i should do, how long it takes for court dates etc.. and what you think the outcome will be. It would be very much appreciated. Also if you need any more info on what happened just ask and i shall do my best to answer. Thanks, A.
