Hi Everyone, hope this is in the correct forum.
I've just received a single justice procedure notice with regards to driving an unlicensed vehicle back in May, caught on unlicensed vehicle detector camera. My fault I let the tax expire but I realised in July and retaxed it. I've now received this document that asks me to plead guilty by return, plead guilty in court or plead not guilty in writing. They also say I was sent a letter a week after the ANPR camera snapped me, but I never received it. Should I fight it/say I sold it/say I wasn't driving or just accept I messed up? Thanks |

Should I fight it/say I sold it/say I wasn't driving or just accept I messed up? 'Fighting it' would not involve lying. But unless you have an actual defence then pleading guilty seems sensible. -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver

Attempting to pervert the course of justice (by lying) can and does result in prison sentences if detected, as they know you were the registered keeper at the time you’d struggle to prove you were telling the truth. Your choice if you think 9months in jail is better for you than a small fine of course.

Remember to take the car off the road and SORN it if you go to jail. On the bright side you are only actually inside for half of your nominal sentence, save on living expenses and no doubt make interesting new friends. Just don't bend over in the shower.

Both my partner and I drive the car, regularly on this stretch of road. Neither of us are 100% sure who would have been driving at the suggested time but it certainly wasn't taxed.

Perhaps the driver isn't liable for this offence. (Clue the registered keeper is)

Perhaps the driver isn't liable for this offence. (Clue the registered keeper is) The offence is uses or keeps. -------------------- Moderator
