Surely the media wouldn't seek to unnecessarily seek to scare people into complying with a controversial restriction, would they? No, I think it's just lazy journalism by someone who couldn't find any real news to report. With my tin hat on, someone in government leaked it in a fashion so the news would pick it up and scare the ignorant into another reason to stay at home. Mind you, they could have simply put it on twitface and half the world would believe it. More like clickbait bullshit "journalism", I would think. |

Try being followed by a fully marked traffic car, presumably with ANPR when the MOT was 3 months out of date. I was on my way to a prebooked MOT but it was still nerve wracking. The car had been off the road BTW and was also SORN but that didn't seem to bother the cops behind. Insurance is what they are hottest on, but I don't think they see their role as DVLA enforcers; too busy with other things ! I doubt they're that interested in a recently expired MoT of itself, but they may well see it as an indication that the owner/driver isn't that fastidious about complying with the law and so there might be other criminality that a stop would expose. |

It is normally quite straightforward to see whether someone is wearing a seat belt, because if you are the image is more obvious than most people imagine, even if you're wearing dark clothing. Amazing things show us if you zoom a picture some 700% Be interesting to see the photo Or smell the BS. |

Which LTN is this? I have gone out at various times including just now on bike or car to assess our local ones in Hackney and never found anything more than usual traffic that was around before lockdown. People have short memories and think lockdown was the 'before' scenario. Thats where I live and it is becoming a nightmare. Where do you want to go? I live in Dalston and I haven't had any problems driving. If you don't want to help the OP, butt out. |

You could try out the video analysis offered by these experts https://www.roadsafetysupport.co.uk/forensic-video-analysis You must be joking... It would give them an opportunity to prove their independence. It would. It's perhaps surprising that they don't make more of the opportunity to demonstrate that on their own "About Us" page. |

More than 30 years ago I grew up in Fornnon Eef, just north of Croydon; a time when someone being stabbed to death there was a shocking thing, maybe a once in a year event. Moving out of London was the best move I ever made. |

I'm no expert but I'd be a bit surprised if a motorhome could do 89 in any conditions. It's probably not what you're thinking of when you read "motorhome" - 2600kg equipped, 2.0 litre/130 bhp turbo diesel (2020). Generally described as small and "sporty" (for a motorhome). Not saying that it was doing 89mph in this case, but one certainly could. |

“Our expert witness team will always consider instructions from outside of the police service.” That statement doesn't sit very comfortably with the rest of the content of that page though, does it? Not to mention that there's a big gap between being prepared to consider something and actually doing it (or ever having done it). |

in fact the highway code seems to imply that lighting only has an effect in built up areas (rule 124), which is what I was taught way back when I was taking my test. I'm not sure how you work that out; it doesn't mention built-up areas at all (and hasn't for decades): QUOTE (Highway Code Rule 124) Rule 124 You MUST NOT exceed the maximum speed limits for the road and for your vehicle (see the speed limits table). The presence of street lights generally means that there is a 30 mph (48 km/h) speed limit unless otherwise specified. |

However, I am wondering if the mandatory right turn sign is intended to apply to drivers leaving the one way street but has been turned on the lamp post so as to face the wrong direction? I'm also left wondering why we have only a single picture, with a resolution good enough to be disgusted by the poor sign placement yet inadequate to read street names, and no other location information to enable us to see it in its context? Obviously social media instant outrage has made me very cynical in my old age... |

That would be because Fredd has nothing new to add to his previous comments on this subject. In short, there's little point in encrypting information that has no value to anyone who might have the means, motive and opportunity to intercept it and is publicly accessible once it's been posted anyway. |

It'll make f-all difference without any enforcement, as now. While I'm sympathetic to the objective, in the midst of a pandemic and with a no-deal Brexit looming I'd have thought that government had more important things to be worrying about ATM. |

Who would have guessed, all those years ago in primary school, that the basic literacy being taught would be such a powerful protective tool in spotting scams in years to come? Or even knowing how to spell "licence (n)"? |

I'm pretty sure the OP has got the idea by now as to what the consensus view of posters here is of the best way to proceed - piling in with more "me too" comments isn't really helping. Ultimately it's the OP's decision. |

I struggle to envisage any scenario where a member of the armed forces who is not a member of the service police would need such an exemption. It's not exactly unknown for members of the armed forces to have been used in covert surveillance roles to investigate terrorist activities. Perhaps some of the more notorious examples were a bit before your time. 😁 Sure, so you'd expect there to be a provision for special forces and the service police, the current provision just seems overly broad. Well you're the one who said you struggled to envisage "any scenario" where any member of the armed forces not in their police services would need these exemptions. And I don't see why it's overly broad when it only applies to those engaged in those specific covert surveillance activities. |

I still have no response and my 28 days to provide my information are not far away. Now, here is my issue, if I complete Part 1: Were you the driver at the time of the alleged offence? If I say YES, then I need to fill out all of the DVLA info and I will get a fine and the points (basically admitting guilt). You're misunderstanding that section - you won't automatically get a fine and points by completing it. They're asking for your driving licence number so they can check if you've previously completed a course before considering offering you that option in this case. Since you know you were driving there at the time, whatever you do make sure you return the completed form within that 28 day window - if you don't you will end up with 6 points, a fine, and a nasty insurance-unfriendly MS90 endorsement! |

BTW the procedure you describe is wrong, your company cannot pay the fine for a criminal (e.g speeding) offence. If they had named you, you would have received your own paperwork. And if the company hadn't named the OP, then they wouldn't have been able to pick up an MS90 conviction. In fact the OP says that the company did send back the paperwork naming them, but with outdated address details. ISTM that the company probably did follow the correct procedure, but used incorrect address details, resulting in the OP not receiving their own s172 request, and hence failing to reply. |
