If I put the wrong registration in when paying for a ticket, is that a valid argument for a parking ticket?

I may have put the registration number of the other vehicle. I have a supporting document to say I paid with a credit card for the duration I parked.

Of course it’s valid, how are they meant to know anyone paid?

There are other possible outcomes here if you want to share the facts of the case.

As always, a good idea to edit the post and tell us what ‘the driver’ did, and notice will go to the keeper who will handle it.

As a BPA member this would be considered a major keying error - so they will offer you £20 to dispose of the matter.

Although they are not litigious they do have 6 years to raise a claim.

Can I not get away with paying anything for it as I already paid the parking ticket?

Or can I argue I paid for the ticket, here is my proof and let them figure out. I am not fully sure I keyed in the wrong reg number but I know for sure I paid for it.

you can argue anything you like , but the charge owed can vary according to what you decide to do

1) Argue and win , zero paid out

2) appeal as mentioned earlier and take the £20 option when offered

3) fail to meet their appeal deadline and its currently £60

4) fail completely and its £100

5) not pay at all and argue in court, if you lose in court it will cost you about £220 in PCN plus legal fees

your choice

So you ignored this and doubled down on continuing to do it….

Good luck, you’ll need it.

The conditions of the contract were to enter the full, correct vrm one suspects.

The driver's 'error' has caused them to incur costs. Whilst £20 is annoying it will see closure.

As I said, they are not serial litigators so make your point and then 'ignore' them unless they start court proceedings (usually via a Letter Before Claim).

As above, it's your choice depending on your attitude to risk.

You will be ofered to pay discount £20 if you appeal , they will not cancel it , they will cancel only if one letter or number is wrong
