Hello, hoping somebody can give me some advice.

I was parking in a supermarket car park in what was admittedly a tight space, on parking I could not open my driver side door enough to allow me to get out, so I reversed out of the space to find a wider one.
A man got out of one of the cars that I'd tried to park between and accused me of hitting his car, I denied doing so and asked him to show me the damage, he pointed at his driver side door but I could see no damage, I again told him I had not hit his car and I moved my car to another space nearby in the same car park.

This happened at 09.15 am and I have the receipt from the shop to prove what time I was there, I was in there for approximately 30 minutes.

I've now had a NIP with the correct date and location but with 11.30 hours at the time of the incident, I was 3 miles away at my brothers house from 09.55 to 11.45 so the times are out.

The NIP says I failed to stop and report a road traffic collision but as far as I was concerned there was no collision to report, I did not exactly speed off, I just parked a few spaces away.

If I had hit his car I'd have offered to pay for any damage.

Any advice on how to proceed please?

As you are well aware of the incident to which it refers the time error is an irrelevance.

Right now I’d just reply to the S172 request confirming you were driving and then see what the Police want to do. Very often they will just exchange details and leave it to the insurance companies to fight it out. If the Police decide to take it further then you’ll get a chance to put your case.
