Amazing story of presence of mind and very skilful driving. And good pics.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-62796625

A car whose driver had fallen seriously ill while at the wheel on a motorway was brought to a halt by a quick-witted motorist who had realised his plight.
John Barlow said he spotted the Audi going slowly in the outside lane of the M62 near Leeds on Saturday. The driver was slumped with a bloodied face.
Mr Barlow managed to get his car ahead of the Audi and eased it to a stop before getting out to help the man …. He pulled into the lane ahead of the Audi, which was travelling at about 30mph (48km/h), before taking his foot off the accelerator and bringing both cars to a stop. …
After the Audi was stopped, another man helped Mr Barlow break into the vehicle.
He opened the seriously ill driver's airway by tilting his jaw backwards, at which point the Audi driver took in a gasp of air.
Other drivers also stopped at the scene, bringing the four-lane carriageway to a halt.
A physio and an off-duty police officer took over the first aid until paramedics arrived.
Meanwhile, a doctor on the opposite carriageway of the M62 travelled to the next junction, turned round and battled through the backed-up traffic to get to work with a defibrillator.
Mr Barlow said: "Everyone was amazing, it was a real team effort. They got the man on the floor, then the doctor jumped in as well."
Mr Barlow had been travelling to Pontefract with his wife Kirsty and son Joey, 7, to pick up a new kitten at the time of the incident.
The next day, he received a call from West Yorkshire Police thanking him and he was told the driver had suffered a seizure but was well enough to go home.
He said he hoped to meet the man he saved in the future, adding: "I'd shake his hand and give him a hug."

There is good in humanity still.

So that's at least 3 people who went out of their way to help a stranger voluntarily.

I love stories like that, almost as much as I dislike the people who say you shouldn't get involved and should leave it to the emergency services. If Mr Barlow had just dialled 999, by the time the police and ambulance had intervened the Audi driver could have been dead.

Wow! I have a rival to play the next 007. laugh.gif A few years ago, seriously, I had to avoid a BMW estate in Manor Road North, near Hinchley Wood, apparently driving itself. The driver had left the car with the engine running and the handbrake disengaged, too. Fortunately, it came to a stop as it made contact with the kerb. Hellfire. wub.gif

People, we come and go Memories, they ebb and flow. When we fill our lives with emptiness This does not create true happiness. As this is the Dance of Life.

People, we can be kind True love is hard to find. When we fill our lives with emptiness This does not create true happiness. As this is the Dance of Life.

Animals, we kill to eat For many, it’s just a treat. When we fill our lives with arrogance We create a huge imbalance. As this is the Dance of Life.

Our Earth is our Heavenly home God-given to freely roam. When we fill our lives with arrogance We create a huge imbalance As this is the Dance of Life.

One day, we will all be judged This simple truth cannot be fudged. When we carry on so blindly We do not act all so kindly. As this is the Dance of Life.

As Above, and so Below A simple truth to help us grow. When we put aside our egotism We will really find altruism. As this is the Dance of Life.

The Divine lives in all things Manifested in music’s rings. The planets are a testament To the everlasting firmament. As this is the Dance of Life.

It's all in the wrist.

John is a facebok friend of a facebook friend, and one of them linked his post.

I quote it here in it's entirity

QUOTE
Probably one of the most horrific things I've ever seen was this Saturday afternoon, having to undertake a car driving too slowly in the M62 fast lane just past Leeds that wouldn't move over for anyone. I decided to pull along side him in the middle lane and without exaggeration both myself and Kirsty thought he was dead at the wheel, he was grey with blue lips and blood coming out of his mouth.

Might seem a bit nutts to do this but you do daft things when you don't have time to think... I matched his speed which I'd now guess was maybe 20 to 30mph? Pulled in front of him and used my car to stop his. Couple of bangs along the way but got it to stop.

Jumped out and waved for all the traffic which was still moving to stop so i could get in his passenger door. Unfortunately his doors were locked so tried repeatedly elbowing his passenger window (Note to one's self, elbows don't win fights with car windows).
Fortunately a tradesman in a van had a hammer and we managed to get in the Audi, the gentleman was barely breathing from obstruction with his head being slumped forward.

Fortunately we'd had a refresher first aid course at the gym recently and frantically trying to remember i tilted his head slowly backwards opening his airways. He took a deep gasp and seemed to start breathing again. Even though he was still out for the count i kept talking to him as the course says and he seemed to get some colour back.
Fortunately a few minutes later a lovely lady with far better medical training and an off duty WPC took over, they were absolutely brilliant. A doctor then shouted over from the hard shoulder of the opposite carriageway asking if he could help, he definitely could. So he drove to the next junction and battled though what was now a heavily congested stand still motorway that wasn't moving. He had a defib. They worked really well on the gentleman and he started regaining some consciousness until the ambulance arrived.

Now i wouldn't have posted this story otherwise but I've just had the absolute best news. Yorkshire Police have just called to let me know that although the Gentleman had suffered a seizure he was now stable and able to go back home with his family.

Wanted to post this because although the Police said what i did was heroic, i don't really think it was. Herioc is Firefighters, Lifeboat crew and the likes, i only did what plenty of folks with half a conscience would have done.
Just seeing all the other people working together to save someone's life is a brilliant thing, especially when teamwork works. Things like this certainly helps keep peoples faith that the majority of people are decent folks.

Just the minority, like people taking pictures from the bridge of the gentleman on the tarmac gives human beings a bad rep.

Little bit of advice for anyone, get on a little First Aid Course and keep something that can break a car window, in your glove compartment.
Oh much love to my Mrs and little Joey who was a brave boy through out.
Have a nice Sunday people ❤

Extra note... Bloody hell, what was just sharing a terrible experience to a good outcome with my friends has gone a bit mental. I'm a mix of proud but humbled alrhough still insist it was a team effort. Wonderful to see that the much bigger majority of people have not lost basic human decency and compassion. Cannot reply to everyone but thankyou ❤... P.S my cars just fine, bit of bent bracket under the bumper and some scratches which will just T Cut out. Not that it mattered. West Yorkshire Police called me and jokingly asked if i could teach their new recruits how to perform a controlled stop 😏 ... oh, and the metal rods on head rests are designed to smash car window (you learn something new) 👍
