The NIP means they are going to prosecute you for the offence, and it can take two forms:
- A written NIP (e.g. if you get a ticket from a speed camera);
- Verbal NIP.
If you were not stopped at the time of the alleged offence, the police have 14 days to issue a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) to the Registered Keeper - the individual who's name appears on the V5 registration document and
