Hi everyone,
hopefully this is something I can get some guidance with. I have left it a bit late as it will be 14 days to pay the reduce amount tomorrow 4/6/20 - sorry for the short notice!!! I parked up 20/05/20 with my kids to go for a walk in Kenwood park. I was concerned at the time of parking that my bumper was overhanging part of the dropped kerb of this huge driveway and I was out the car having a look when a police car slowly came past (there was heavy traffic). It was hot, their windows were open and there were three of them in the car. They saw me looking puzzled and I said hello and that I was just having a look to see if I was obstructing the driveway. The answer they gave me and which I ultimately relied upon was that it wasn't an issue to park where I was and that I wouldn't get a ticket or get towed (I specifically asked twice). That gave me the confidence to park up which I did, only to find a ticket when I returned. Having had a quick look on this forum I am not sure where I stand with the police as I didn't take names or badge numbers (why would i) and although I am overhanging the driveway, my wheels are not and the driveway comes out an an angle, so where it starts from is much narrower than where it ends and my whole car fits in the width off the start of the dropped kerb (including the bumpers). I have lived in barnet for 20 years now and know just how painful they can be. I have successfully challenged the odd pcn over the years and won most but I know that they generally reject anything put before them. They are harsh to say the very least. Do I have a leg to stand on? It's just so frustrating having asked the police and them telling me I was perfectly ok. Any help or advice is very much appreciated. My eldest child who was with me on the day is 17 and she witnessed the whole thing as did my 13 and 10 year old in case that has any relevance on the convo with the police cars. I hope the images come through. First three are council images, last one is mine. Here is the google street view too https://goo.gl/maps/Dsq58isCvc2iurQG7 Thanks in advance and apologies for any errors I may have made. https://ibb.co/Gtb7B6G https://ibb.co/5WK33nH https://ibb.co/j6LJ696 https://ibb.co/g7q5QkZ https://ibb.co/82t2xSV |

I'd go for trust!
In particular, the weight given in your appeal to the different aspects i.e. don't think something is important just because you feel strongly about it. |
