I have lost my NIP, i think i know where it is but i am not going to be able to get it until after 28 days. Is there anything i can do to prevent getting prosecuted for not providing he information? would they accept me writing to them with the required details of the driver but but not on the NIP they sent me? Exactly what details would i need to provide? I know they need name, driving licence number, date of birth and address, is there anything else?
Please help as i will need to send this information tomorrow to be within the 28 day period. Also does anyone have the address for West Yorkshire Police? |

Case law Jones v DPP provides providing all the required information in the form of a signed and dated letter complies with the substance of the requirement, and is therefore good enough.
The immediate problem you would seem to have is that you would need to reference the information you provide to the NIP - it's all very well saying that you were the driver, but they want to know who was the driver of a particular vehicle at a particular time, date and location. If you list the vehicle registration, time, date and location, that should be enough to link the response to the NIP/requirement. Driver's details required are usually, title, full name, address, date of birth and driver number (licence number). Google suggests that the address for West Yorkshire Casualty Reduction Partnership is:- Flockton House Flockton Road Bradford BD4 7RY Whether the 'Central Ticket Office' is there is another matter, although if not they should be able to forward it. Generally, the statutory 28 days tend to be a tad 'elastic', and you would usually be sent a reminder giving you more time to comply if you fail to provide the information within the 28 days. -------------------- Andy
Some people think that I make them feel stupid. To be fair, they deserve most of the credit. |
