I run A red light. I was going 30. lights changed i revved up to 40 to beat but changed to red! Did not get stopped by police. But i read dash cam footage cannot be used in court because it costs to much. But Im worried about the big cctv camera directly on the road. Can big cctv camera be used?

I don't think CCTV's are allowed to capture red light runners. Unless a traffic cop seen you. However, it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that the operators report the incident to the police. Whether they'd bother is anyone's guess. There would have to be a council policy on this. I can't see a council CCTV operator taking it upon himself to report matters to the police. I've never heard of a council putting such a policy in place, not least because they would gain no revenue from red light cases. A council policy forbidding employees from reporting crimes? |

Manager: How many PCNs have we issued today? CCTV Operator: None Manager: What the heck have you been doing all day? We spent tens of thousands of pounds putting these cameras up and you haven't caught a single vehicle? CCTV Operator: I caught loads of other stuff that meant I was too busy to worry about yellow box junctions and bus lanes, I've reported dozens of cases to the Met today for red light jumping, pulling out in front of other vehicles, people driving whilst on their phones, plus dozens of no seatbelt cases and even a few who were sitting on their seatbelts! It's been a really buys day, look I have all the submissions references from the Met website. Manager: That's not what we pay you for, if tomorrow you don't want to come in and concentrate on your actual job, i.e. catching people in contravention of the yellow box junctions and bus lanes, I suggest you don't bother coming in at all. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php

Indeed, I don't recall reading a case on this board where someone had been shopped by a CCTV operator for a red light offence, off the top of my head. |
