Hi all, New to the forum so hopefully i'm posting in the right place.
As I'm sure your aware of the City of London Cornhill/Bank restrictions on vehicles other than buses and cyclists.
However every morning for work i travel down Old Broad St and turn right into Threadneedle street followed by a right into Bartholomew Lane to access Gresham St.
On the date 0f 31/07/18 i found Bartholowmew Lane barriered off as roadworks were taking place. In front of the barriers was a Diversion sign pointing up to The Bank junction. Having no other choice other than to attempt a 3 point turn in heavy traffic i continued on towards The Bank where i saw a second Diversion sign pointing me towards Old Jewry which i again followed and thought no more of it.
The roadworks in Bartholowmew Lane continued for 3 days hence the 3 consecutive PCN notices.

Can i ask if i was in the wrong to follow the Diversion signage or if i have some kind of grounds to Appeal them?

Thanks for any help in advance.

As this is a decriminalised PCN and not a criminal offence, I’ve asked a moderator to move it to the correct forum for you.

You’ll need a scan or photo of the WHOLE PCN with just personal details redacted.

I would have thought a diversion that took you through Bank junction must be taken into account. Do you have any proof?

No proof as such but then there are CCTV camera's everywhere in the City so it wouldn't be too hard to confirm i suppose.
You can make out a sign in the short video clips they provide as evidence but unfortunately not the wording on the sign.

They may be happy to cancel the first one but feel you should sought other routes afterwards although I can't see how you would know how long the diversion was for.

The video is helpful if it shows a sign even if you can't read it.

So I would appeal them on the grounds of a diversion that took you across Bank junction and there was no sensible way to turn around, and their video shows diversion signage.

I expect they have a lot of PCNs from this diversion - you could call them first to see informally if they are aware of this and sound them out.

Thanks for help Stamfordman, i'll try to call them tomorrow.
Mean while i'd better get the wording for the appeal sorted as only a few days left to the 2 week deadline before the fines increase to £130 each!
