An indication of how some people are clearly seeing things through tainted glasses and just want to see the bad in everything.
Apparently some parents complained while others are in full support.
Either way this poor old guy cannot continue with the thought that some people are questioning his conduct with school children.

Where did this "grooming" allegation come from? The report I read said the objection was to him doing the high-fiving while in the road, on the grounds that he should be paying attention to the traffic. Seems to me that the Metro has a very appropriate tagline: "Metro - News... but not as you know it".

Not that I'd put it past some hyper-sensitive parent to consider anybody who even glanced at their little Precious to be grooming them and complain about it nowadays.

I would have thought a man dressed in high vis outfit holding a large sign standing in the middle of the road outside a school would have been enough of a visible attraction to motorists for him not to need to be worried about high 5 ing, which I might say due to arm movement would probably make him even more visible to motorists anyway

Dunno about that, we haven't had a lollipop man at the top of our road since my good lady ran him over about 15 years back. smile.gif

This one, some parents will complain about anything.
Often it seems to be the parents with challenging kids (also known as right little gits)

There was a feature on this in the national news last week, showing him doing it. Might be available online, but he was just holding his hand up with the sign and the children slapped his hand from what I could see.

The confusion arises because it's a different lollipop man, in a different region, but hounded for the same "reason" at a similar time. The difference is that one council saw sense in time, the other pandered to a whining elfin-safe tea minority until it was too late.

That is confusing. Seems to be epidemic.
