UK CPM PCN
Issue Date : 1st December 2022
Charge : £100. Discount : £60
Vehicle : Motorcycle
Area : Residential Parking. A Tenant.

Hello all,

I have gone through a lot of the forums to try and find similar cases for getting a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) for a Motorcycle for Not Displaying a Valid Permit but couldn't find a similar case to myself so decided to create a post here.

I just got a letter today from UKCPM for Not Displaying a Valid Permit on my Motorcycle. It was not parked in the bay as we just got a new car and it takes up all the space but was parked next to it which is unused unobstructed area and not on paved, landscaped, roadways or yellow lines.

Now I had asked UKCPM to provide me with additional permits but they assured me that motorcycles don't need to have a permit yet, here I am with a ticket.

Now here is what I am thinking:
1. Appeal to them using the link on the PCN letter by UKCPM.
2. As they are not a member of BPA, I cant use POPLA if I initial appeal gets rejected.

What are my chances here and what do the experts here think I can do? The photo looks like my bike is in a bay and they have not provided any other photo from far. I also have a little tag that said that if you need to see a permit, contact me which they haven't taken a photo of from the front.

Thanks.

Do you have this in writing from them?

Nope. It was on a call unfortunately. Maybe I can email them again and see what they say.

I actually do have it. My landlord had emailed them and then he had forwarded us this. It does say that it needs to be in a designated area which the bike in question was parked between two designated areas as there is a pillar in between them but its perfect for motorcycles. Its not blocking any vehicles or members of public.

Basically, each apartment is given a parking slot with a number on it but there are gaps, like the one where my bike is parked that is between two designated parking spots and as we recently got a car, I had to move my bike on the side hence getting a parking ticket.

Sorry, don't know what you mean by Is is signed?

Thanks.

It seems an overzealous warden - but they may well be on commission to issue tickets...

But it seems an appeal should be accepted as long as those conditions have been met.

Yeah, it seems like it tbh. So when you say an appeal, you are talking about the one to CPM right? As that is the first appeal I can do is to appeal to CPM.

Thanks.

Correct, adding your written evidence to the appeal, using their own words against them

To be fair to the warden they may be unaware of the conditions for motorcycles…

Well, got an email today that they cancelled all 3 of our PCNs. No other info was provided but it was good to see that they didn't give us more trouble than that. Thanks for the help here!
