Hi guys,
I've had a car parked in a tight area at the bottom of my street. It's had Road Tax but no MOT. It's an area where cars park on the pavement regularly and police see it but take no action because it's common sense to do it that way. Some resident seems to have complained about mine because it has been parked there for at least 4 weeks because my bro-in-law was to get it repaired but had to go abroad on emergency. So it's been left parked there for a while. I was told by neighbours it had got towed and after checking out with the police they say it was for obstruction of driveway and pavement. Thing is, there's no driveway there. Although I'm guilty for parking on pavement just like the other vehicles that were parked there the same way whilst mine was being towed. The car is not registered to me but I'm insured on it at a different address to where I was parked. Do I have a case against the police for picking up a car for an offence that other residents were/are committing? I phoned the garage in the evening and they say I am not allowed to pick it up outside their operating hours, which means overnight charge. The cost will probably be more than the car is worth so I'm thinking of not paying but any chance I can get money back from coppers? Do I have any case at all? |

Bear in mind, theyre not compelled to do anything, just because youve reported something. They have the final decision in that, not you. Like I said unless someone gets injured as result of their inaction. A complaint would be made forthwith. I'll just be taking more walks while ****** on that particular pavement |

If you tell them you previously had a dispute with them about parking, and then fell over their car whilst drunk, I think you will struggle to find anyone to take you claim on. |

The thing is I don't know the owner of the vehicle. I'm assuming it's the same one that parked there that evening. It seems like it was a collaborative effort by some guys down there. In any case, my aim is to piss the pigs off as much as it is legally possible. Some ****** in the police force lied about how I was parked there. Tit for tat, why shouldn't I make something up too. I'm not saying I'm going to commit a crime but I'd be more likely to consciously commit a crime than I was on Monday morning. We've got crooks in uniforms. Fight fire with fire I say. |

Thought we were all grown up enough to no longer refer to the police as pigs.

Thought we were all grown up enough to no longer refer to the police as pigs. If they act as reckless as swine then they should be called out as such. My respect for the force has rapidly diminished over the last few days. I abide by the law where I can and where it is commonly known that one should. But this hurt because the only reason I didn't pursue the MOT was because I was cash strapped. So some knob head CSO decided he wants to feel important on this one occasion and took the most drastic an action as one can possibly take in such instances. No, shouldn't call them pigs, you're right; pigs have their uses |

You seem to misunderstand - the law isn't something you only have to abide by when you feel like it, or happen to have heard about it, or when you're a bit too short of cash. -------------------- Regards,
