Hi all.
27/11/20 the driver parked in what they thought was a free spot between two cars at Flora Street retail park in Sheffield. They came back to find the privacy notice on the windshield, and as the keeper I have now received the NTK giving me until tomorrow, 15/12, to pay £60, or by 29/12 to pay the full £100 fee. The driver was genuinely surprised to have been ticketed and it's clear from looking online that many other people have fallen prey to tickets for the same area of car park. It's reassuring that there's been a few success stories of people fighting the charge, and winning. I'm hoping to do the same - that said, I'm in my mid-twenties, and the intimidating prospect of attending court over a parking ticket is tempting me to cave in. I'm aware there's been a few other posts on here by people in the same situation, but would appreciate input all the same. At this stage - what should I do? I know there's the option of appeal, which some say is worth doing because by engaging you demonstrate being reasonable; others have said not to bother. I know that this area is apparently "well-known" by the courts in Sheffield, but how risky is fighting the ticket - is there any possibility of the judge siding with VCS? Thanks for your help. Thanks for everything guys. An update - it seems the case has been passed onto ELMS Legal, and I have received a "Notification of Instruction" from them informing me that VCS have instructed them to recover the debt. Scan is attached. It's a little bit surprising as I was anticipating a court claim and can't find any other forum posts where this letter has been received. Not really sure where this leaves me with next steps - presumably I'm back to square one and have to sit tight while they send me increasingly threatening letters? Still nothing back from the SAR.
