Hi Guys

I've recently received this fine from Haringey council for driving on a bus lane. There is no denying that I did but I've been driving up that road for so many years and knowing without looking that bus lane times are 7-10 4-7 and I drove at 10:27. I went to see what I did wrong and noticed they have put up new signs and cars aren't in the picture but the times were covered by papers stuck on each of them reading "Dirty Council Trap" which I believe put up by someone feeling hard done by this fine and there are no notifications around to inform people that the times and allowances changed. Can I get some advice on this please.

Thanks in advance

Please upload a picture of the new signs, the back of the PCN, and the council video.

Here's the proposed order - it's been rush hour only for as long as I recall.

not sure when it went live but more reading here:

There are a lot fo signs on the Hill - if they were obscured on the day of your contravention then maybe the video will show it but I doubt it

Interesting, but also an odd article. I'm no racing driver or pursuit trained police officer, but I've driven in bus lanes out of their hours of operations since I passed my driving test and I've never found it stressful to read the signs. In fact driving down an empty bus lane while everyone else is too scared and sits in a queue in lane 2 is a very stress-free experience, it's like having your own private lane. Maybe having a clock on the dashboard makes all the difference?

me too - unless you're right on the cusp of the time then it's a no brainer to use them.

But I wouldn't trust a dash clock - BBC FM radio is the best marker.

In this case I think the OP will struggle as the lane has about 5 signs.

More here - seems there is also a times changed sign maybe still up.

The trick is to use the radio 4 beeps to set the dash clock :-D

As I said, I wouldn't trust the clock as they are often made form cheap parts. The clocks on both of our cars don't have seconds in any case.

You can sync it to the second by setting the minute as you hear the "beep", I also have the clock on my phone (which sits in its sat-nav cradle) which is synced from the GSM network. Anyway, if I ever get a PCN for being 30 seconds too early, I'll be happy to appeal on "de minimis".

I live near the congestion charge zone. 30 secs too early doesn't matter to TFL.

That's ok, I never drive anywhere near the centre of London at that sort of time, far too much traffic.
