Hello helpful community,

Please could you help me with the penalty charge notice that has appeared on my doormat? I'm afraid it got lost in a pile of post and was only opened today so the 14 days to pay the reduced fine has elapsed.

I have tried searching the forum and am not sure if it's OK to ignore this one, I saw some that were told to ignore private tickets whilst someone else was taken to court.

I was not the driver at the time but been told that the signs were not prominent, purchase was made at the retail park as they went to Mcdonalds for a meal, no receipt , but should appear on the bank statement of the driver. I am a worrier so would be grateful if anyone could advise me the best way to play this one or has experience/knowledge of this company.

Thank you for any assstance.

Rookie
You said earlier...., 'the exception being if either the event occurred, or the recipient lives, outside of England and Wales

Although not applicable to this case your statement seems to inply that if my BiL who lives in Scotland gets a ticket in England, he can ignore it

Yes, because there is no keeper liability in scotland, and any court claim MUST be raised in Scotland.

Hi all,

I have now received a Debt recovery Plus letter asking for £160, I know I was told to ignore everything except LGA or court claim form, this doesn't count as a LBA does it? It does say they will recommend the client take court action if I fail to pay.

Scary business all of this.

Hi Pepipoo - where did this name come from? I tell friends and family to check Pepipoo if they ever get a ticket they all ask 'Who?!!'

I have often heard it said to ignore private parking tickets, including here on the forum but never personally got to this stage where a recovery agency has been passed my details and it is unnerving, if anyone could advise , I would be so grateful. I'm sure there are more serious council PCN's that need urgent attention and appreciate that but just a quick reply would be good.

Thank you again

Fully ignoring hasn't been advice here since 2012 and the passing of the POFA. Except if you live in Scotland and the driver hasn't been identified. Even then, obviously you don't ignore a genuine LBC.

However, debt collectors (unless you've already lost a court case) are utterly powerless. Literally the only thing they do is write you letters containing red ink. The deal is usually that if the PPC are "owed" £100, they give permission for a debt collector to write scary-sounding letters demanding £160, and if the punter is dumb enough to cough up, the debt collector keeps £60 and passes £100 back to the PPC. If the punter doesn't pay up, the debt collector typically gets nothing. Which is why the last thing they want to happen is for the case to be passed back to their client.

Debt collectors can't (usually) raise a court claim themselves - that has to be done by the PPC, usually via solicitors acting on their behalf.

A real LBC will say "Letter Before Claim" or similar, not "if you don't pay we might consider the possibility of recommending to our client that they think about the possibility of raising a claim - perhaps"

The name came from something about a perjurous pile of poo I think, way back when!

Ignore debt collector letters. Why not complain to the Retail Park to cancel it, better than waiting to fight a later court claim.

Dear helpful community,

I have received a 'Notice of intended court action' from the debt recovery agency advising me that they will pass the debt back to the client recommending court action.

Just a quickie...

This is not yet actual action before court is it?

Thanks all

EVERY debt collector letter can be ignored.

Hello helpful community,

It's been a while since I heard anything about this ticket but today, I received a letter from Gladstones stating,

'Our client would like to provide you with this opportunity to make full payment'

So, no mention of court as yet, just that they have the option to proceed to civil court.

Just a quick questions, should I start to worry now? Do I need to plan a defence or can I continue to ignore?

Thank you for taking the time.

Hi Cabbyman,

They ask that I contact DPR to arrange payment.

Sorry that's DRP and if I don't pay in 14 days to keep the client and DRP updated with any changes in address to ensure my ability to defend any such action is protected by the CCJ.

Hello,

I also am now getting the same thing. I was apparently near wembley some where. I'm at the debt recovery plus asking for 160£, and them saying they are going to recommend their client to take me to court.

Do i just ignore? There we no signs as far as i could see and i wasnt there that long.

Cheers
