I did some digging on my licence as I needed to renew it. dvla told me I cannot renew it because it was 'revoked'. I said when, they said around 2009; I was very much confused.

(I should had renewed my licence when it expired in 2012, but of course life takes its course)

so in the interim I was highly confused on this so ordered a provisional. But after more digging I was given 6 points and a £600 fine with ms90 - failing to provide driver information. I didn't know what all this related to.

fast forward and to cut a long story short, the woman from the courts advised me it was regarding a vehicle (which I did have) but I sold the vehicle. I probably had it for around 2 months if that.

I gave everything to the new person as you would do. Now I am thinking about it, they probably didn't change over the name on the logbook there and then and kept it how it was. (Yes you are supposed to send of the slip).

Now this has happened. The situation would be is that it was take me back to having to re-do my whole licence again, when in actual fact, I do not need to, as this situation 'was somebody else'.

How did the court even go ahead and issue myself with the points and the fine exactly? How does that even work? Did the police not do their checks on the actual driver etc...?

Now the court is going to further on my case and hopefully this will get settled.

and just like that, ive checked dvla site and it says 'I have a full drivers licence'

(yet the court obviously didn't update dvla to the address I wanted the licence to go to.... it will still go to the old address.... yet again)

I don't believe the court have the ability to update YOUR address with DVLA.

wasnt referring to the court - when I filled out my stat dec, I put the address I wanted it to go on the licence. I also said to the clerk woman 'will the address on the stat dec be the main address on the licence now'? she said yes

fast forward, ive received a letter from dvla to my current rented property, informing me I need to 'send back my licence' so dvla can update it to the new address...…

I shouldn't of had to of done anything.....?

I know what you said and told you why the court couldn't and wouldn't do it. The fact you were mislead by the clerk doesn't change that. DVLA won't allow anyone but you to change the licencee address for what should be obvious reasons.

Reading that garble as 'I shouldn't have had to have done that' yes that's the procedure so yes you should.

And the morale of the story is not to to rely on other people to keep your details up to date, especially important one's like this. The buyer with the V5 and the court with the licence. Keep everything up to date yourself and problems can be nipped in the bud a lot sooner.

licence came.....

but instead of it showing for how long ive had the licence for.... it shows the date of 4/05/2019 TO 4/05/2027 ???

I passed my drivers test in 2009, so why have they not reinstated it BACK to 2009 to 2027...?

Now it is just going to show to insurers and alike that ive had my licence not even for one year! sleep.gif

Very, very annoying that they couldn't get this right.....

What does it show on the back, the dates for the individual categories?

The dates on the front are simply the dates the photocard are valid from/to. As TonyS says, what are the dates on the back of the licence?
