NIP Details and Circumstances
What is the name of the Constabulary? - Date of the offence: - July 2019 Date of the NIP: - 15 days after the offence Date you received the NIP: - 17 days after the offence Location of offence (exact location as it appears on the NIP: important): - M3 Junction 3-4, CAMBERLEY, UNITED KINGDOM Was the NIP addressed to you? - Yes Was the NIP sent by first class post, second class or recorded delivery? - First If your are not the Registered Keeper, what is your relationship to the vehicle? - How many current points do you have? - 0 Provide a description of events (if you know what happened) telling us as much about the incident as possible - some things that may seem trivial to you may be important, so don't leave anything out. Please do not post personal details for obvious reasons - I don't recall seeing lights (maybe there were) on the M3 motorway usually 70mph. Received this NIP stating I had done 62 mph. Speed limit 50mph NIP Wizard Responses These were the responses used by the Wizard to arrive at its recommendation: Have you received a NIP? - Yes Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle concerned (is your name and address on the V5/V5C)? - Yes Did the first NIP arrive within 14 days? - No Was there a valid reason for the NIP's late arrival? - No NIP Wizard Recommendation Based on these responses the Wizard suggested that this course of action should be considered:

Late NIPs are most often when the recipient believes they are the registered keeper when in fact they were not at the time.
Get out the V5c registration document and check the address is correct, on the bottom of page 2 is a ‘docref’ with a date, that is the date on which the DVLA last updated the record how does that compare to the alleged offence date? It’s not a company/hire/lease car or on HP were the finance company are the registered keeper? You can’t of course reject a Notice, you already have it and have been notified, there is no legal concept of rejecting it. If it is genuinely late (and 99% that ‘are late’ are not actually late based on postings on here) then it would be a defence to the speeding allegation.
