I received a PCN from Lambeth Council at Salters Hill for 'Failing to give way to oncoming vehicles (37j)
Upon review of the video, I wanted to know whether I have a leg to stand on, or does one need to cough up and pay? https://streamable.com/mzlr5 I have never received a PCN for this.. So I went back to the location. And Lambeth Council are an absolute disgrace.. They have a man in a parked white vehicle (with cameras on top)... The council stay there from day-night and their camera are all facing the contravention spot.. So the council are simply lying in wait, looking to record as many vehicles as they can that do not give way More astoundingly, the council have been doing this for over 10 years |

This one is more marginal than others we've seen recently here where there is no contravention. Can you do a still at the point where you car is exactly at the give way line?

I have to say, having looked at the video, that this one is not a winner. The small truck is pretty much over the speed bumps at the moment the OP's car proceeds without any pause at all, past the give-way line. Not one I'd risk the discount on, I have to say. Obviously it is such a huge money spinner the council will never put in traffic lights, they'd lose all that cash ! What a venal and rapacious lot they are.

Well done on cutting 11 seconds off your journey time though. Let's see the PCN. This post has been edited by Neil B: Thu, 20 Jun 2019 - 13:34 -------------------- |

Our rule of thumb here is the speed hump just round the corner - seems to me the approaching van is just about on it so some way away when you are at the give way line.

The problem here is that the oncoming vehicle was clearly impeded, I wouldn't risk the discount on this one.

Hi All, I came here with the same issue in the same place - this one from 13th June! They must be making a fortune. I can paste up the notice and images, but let me know if this should be a new thread.
The traffic was heavy, moving slowly, and the driver who had right of way (my wife tells me) waved her through. This is just common sense driving, as you can see that the traffic is heavy back up the hill, and the road crossing is not blocked (which is, presumably the reason for the priority - to stop cars being blocked out on to the t-junction. And Magic Pringles, we feel your pain. Feeling so angry and 'helpless' about this... New thread or paste here? Thanks, Nick |
