Hi,Is there any hope if I parked in a non-emergency ambulance bay for a life threatening emergency (left chest pains) for a parent? The car was there for 30+mins and when booked into A&E majors, I quickly returned to my car to move it. The car park was not an option as its too far away and my parent is disabled and cannot walk that distance. At the time I didn't even know this was an ambulance bay after I saw the notice later. Previously these have been disabled bays.
I have a GP summary detailing the disability and underlying health conitions (Sciataca, Osteoarthritis etc) why we couldn't walk that far and plan an appeal on the extenuating life threatening situation my parent was in. Its clearly not deliberate as queuing up, going for initial assessment, transferring to majors all takes time and is extremely stressful and chaotic. Do any of you have any experience in this scenario - is clemency an option or will these souless companies expect payment? thanks |

...is clemency an option or will these souless companies expect payment? thanks I think you know the answer here. Honesty rarely works given they are after income. Have you tried contacting PALS at the hospital to see if they'll intervene? I'm intrigued about their declaration the PoFA requires the driver to pay or appeal. No it doesn't*. (PoFA is simply legislation that allows them to recover private parking charges from the keeper under certain conditions) Other options include waiting for them to access the DVLA and see if they comply with PoFA - or appeal as the keeper before they access it. * I'm tempted to say complain to the BPA that they appear to be misrepresenting their legal position. As JLC says, first stop should be PALS at the hospital in question.

I've contacted PALs who in turn forwarded my complaint to the parking team. They have said they will cancel the PCN so I gave the ticket number.
I await their response. What confirmation do I need that its cancelled? I know these companies can't be trusted and don't want a letter 28 days later saying I haven't paid! Legally, will an email from PALs confirming cancellation be enough? |

Get some paperwork showing that the principal has asked their agent to cancel.
Look online, if you can, to check the status of the PCN |

Oops I forget to mention, this was cancelled. I only have the PALs email as proof and online it says cancelled so I took a screenshot of that too.

All good then.
Good to see a PALS on the ball and doing the right thing, too many are useless. -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!
