Hi team
We bought two cars when we first arrived in the country, and my other car was being shipped across from Australia
We filled in all the Nova forms, and got a whole series of documents from the DVLA over the next 6 weeks
As it's now coming up to a year, we've had road tax forms through for two cars, but nothing for the 3rd.
We've got a V5C/2 for the other car, and have a receipt for payment of the original road tax/rego from the dealer - but we have never gotten the whole form
At the moment, all I've done is renew the road tax/rego for another year, and am planning to send off a V62 form, and state that we never received a V5C after original purchase from the dealer
Is there anything else I should be doing? I'm worried that we're at risk of being fined for not keeping details up to date, or not notifying them earlier.

While not ensuring you are the registered keeper is an offence, it’s one tag is very rarely prosecuted.

Sorry, but you need to be more specific about which car, and whether you received the buyers section of the V5C when you bought the car. I assume it wasn't your car shipped from Australia. I think you have waited rather too long before wondering what's up. You mention filling in a V62, and I suggest you do this asap to get a V5C. As 'the Rookie' says, this sort of thing is almost never prosecuted. Was the car bought from a dealer or privately ? Normally dealers have on-line facilities to tax the car and invoke the process to get you your V5C. Of course the Covid19 situation is not helping at the moment.

It was the 2nd car we bought from a local dealer - we’ll be posting off the v62 tomorrow ... unfortunately it’s one of those things where when you move countries it’s tricky to keep on top of it - especially when you are bouncing around a series of airbnbs- we have the buyer section - and a confirmation page from when we filled in the paperwork and did the rego online ... which is identical to that of the other car - so we can’t figure out what went wrong.
At least in both Australia and NZ you can easily check and update your details online - we simply aren’t used to dealing with endless paper forms - no excuse I know - but you don’t really expect to just not get the paperwork.

Thanks for that - we will post off the form tomorrow

Okay - curiouser and curiouser -
I’ve just dug a little deeper, and the v5c date held by the DvLA is the March 2019 - about 5 months before we bought the car.
That suggests to me the dealer never completed the paperwork and sent it off
Do I just give them an earful, and tell them to sort it out, or do I fill in the v62 and let the process wind it’s way through the system?
Bit of context as well - we were supposed to be here for 4 years, but our office is being closed due to COVID and we are being relocated overseas to a new posting - so will be losing a ton on the cars, but don’t want to leave any legal niggles in our wake

Complete the V62 and send it off.
