Not sure if this is the right section but I was wondering if there has been any evidence of cheeky sneaky tactics used by debt recovery companies etc to see how far people will go.

What I mean is them creating logins on this website and posing as another victim of their nonsense with a similar story, purely to send PM's to genuine victims to get an insight into their intentions.

Mods apologies if its in the wrong place.

Ta.

I don't really see the reason for doubt on that score:

I'm not sure if any have gone as far as PMs but certainly they (PPC's themselves generally not DCAs) have created logins and posted trying to tell OPs that their case is hopeless and they may as well pay now before CCJs ruin their credit rating and their wife leaves them for someone with a house etc etc.....

Must admit I thought same with a PPC a few weeks back when a PM arrived from another with similar case to mine.....Just cynical especially as member was brand new.
But they have since posted their own thread and been quite helpful so I reckon they are genuine.

My advice to anyone is to read a few of the threads first, that way you'll see who the very helpful and very knowledgeable people are. So much so, that I think I now know when "one with a high post count" is being sarcastic!

Have you considered a name and shame sticky thread?
