Not sure if this is the right place to ask this. If not if someone could point me in the right direction. The local authority (Barking and Dagenham)in want to bring controlled parking zone into my area.
I live in a Cul-de-sac which leads unto 3 roads. My issue is that most of the homes on these 3 roads have dropped curbs and there isn’t enough parking spaces for everyone. My question is are they allowed to do this and will us submitting a petition from all the residents help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated |

This section is for PCN cases.
I have asked for a move to flame pit where general issues are discussed. |

First, let's be clear. A CPZ is defined in law:
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2016/362/schedule/1/made Nowhere does the definition mention order, and that's because an order does not create a CPZ, an order creates restrictions within an area which, if they satisfy the legislative requirements, may permit a council to erect CPZ signs at the area's vehicle entrances and to dispense with separate time plates for waiting restrictions within the area. A council may also elect to create parking places within the area and to permit parking by whoever on display of a permit or payment etc. What counts are the traffic management imperatives which cause the council to consider establishing common waiting restrictions and possibly parking places within an area. So, don't start with the detail, start with the concept. A council is obliged to canvas opinion on the perceived problems and causes which need to be addressed and this means liaising with residents, businesses and other defined road users. Only when they've got views, identified the problems, developed options and got necessary council approval does the formal order making and consultation process start. And where are you within this process at the moment? |

I am very late in the process as it’s due to come into force 3rd February. Nobody has objected or done anything even tho everyone is outraged and upset. Those that can afford it have dropped their curbs taking away the small amount of spaces we have left, I’m not sure what to do or if I will even get anywhere hence my post

Looks like a wider scheme, unless I'm mistaken? As it's been formally consulted on, I doubt a petition will make any difference what so ever at this late stage... Yes this is the one 👌
I don’t mind paying for the cpz but it doesn’t guarantee me a space, once the 3 roads are full it’s a 10 min walk to the nearest road, they have not taken this into consideration. Most of the residents if not all in this cul-de-sac do not agree with the deciison |

When they turned my road into a CPZ a few years ago, they asked for people to vote if they wanted it or not. Two thirds did, so subsequently we have to pay for permits and have to park within a bay at certain hours. They also increased the permit charge by 600% overnight one year.
Unless you have a good reason for a CPZ I would object if you get the opportunity. |
