I have now had another letter addressed to me from LexisNexis. I got one a few months ago & ignored it as it looked like some sort of scam but I now wonder whether it's genuine albeit not intended for me. It's addressed to me at my home address & explains that they have been engaged by Sylvania Lighting Pension Plan as their records show they have lost contact with me. They ask me to respond with personal details like dob & NI number. I have never worked for Sylvania Lighting & all my pension plans are accounted for.
Before I chuck this letter in the bin too I wondered if anyone has any other suggestions. -------------------- British Parking Association Ltd Code of Practice(Appendix C contains Schedule 4 of POFA 2012 ) & can be found here http://www.britishparking.co.uk/Code-of-Pr...ance-monitoring

https://risk.lexisnexis.co.uk/contact-us/ha...e-contacted-you N.B. Just because LexisNexis do this kind of work does not mean that the letters purporting to be from them actually are. -------------------- Andy
Some people think that I make them feel stupid. To be fair, they deserve most of the credit. |

From that site: QUOTE What should I do next? Call us on the number provided in the letter you’ve received. You’ll need to quote the reference number at the head of your letter, we’ll then perform a security check to verify that we are speaking to the correct person. That's going to be interesting considering the kind of information normally used in a security check is just the information they are after. Of course, if you refuse to give them the information they want until they tell you who it's going to, they will respond by saying they won't tell you until you provide said information. Impass. Your saving grace may be GDPR, so that if you divulge the information, you then have a say over who they do or don't give it to, and can get them to delete it if you choose. |

AIUI they have to tell you what use they'll make of the data before they collect it.

If you decide to contact, do so via numbers on their website, not on letter.
If it is genuine, they will find the correct department for you. You may not have worked for Sylvania but they may have taken over the pension from a previous company. Which could be from years back. I recently had similar from a pension firm I'd never heard of. But in the letter referred to the scheme they had taken over and that was from a company that bought out a company I had worked for in the 70s. I belled them (found number on tinternet) and confirmed it was genuine. Waiting for pension details with keen anticipation, expecting about 2/6d |

I eventually gave LexisNexis a call & they were very helpful. I explained that I had no knowledge of the Sylvania Lighting Pension Plan & that all my pensions & employers were all accounted for. To confirm that I was not the person that they were looking for we went through some personal details. Full name & DOB were the same but then I was offered the first few characters of the National Insurance number but these were completely different to mine e.g. AB 12 34 instead of YZ 98 76. So their search continues...
