In May, on the M25 doing 81mph, the speed limit was 50mph (usually 70mph), which either changed suddenly, or I wasn't paying attention, most likely the latter
I have admitted to being at fault and have received a Single Justice Procedure Notice
My options are either to plead guilty and not go to court, plead guilty and go to court, or plead not guilty and go to trial

My other problem is that I've just received another NIP last Friday for doing 87mph in a 70

My question now is, what is the least painful way of going about this? Losing my licence would be a living nightmare as 1. I'm an NHS worker and 2. I live in a very remote area in the South West, and commuting into work would take me over 2 hours each way (if services even run at the times I'd need them for) and it would be the last thing I'd need after a 13 hour shift (and yes, I should have thought about this before speeding!)

Needless to say, I have definitely taken heed and my limiter will permanently be on because the stress this has caused certainly is not worth it. Again, any advice would be much appreciated

Received a letter today "Summons on Referral to Court", saying a magistrate has decided that the case should be referred to a full court hearing and requesting my attendance

Any advice on how I should proceed would be welcome. I will be asking if I can attend virtually because as previously mentioned, the court in question is several hours away from me

Don't know about 'virtually', but you can certainly ask for the case to be transferred to your local court.

If you're aiming to reduce or change the 'punishment' I'd make a little effort and attend in person....................

I'll also add this to the request! Thanks

Does anyone think it would be worth getting a lawyer?

With a guilty plea I personally don't. Sentencing for speeding is quite prescriptive and the only time you might influence the outcome is when there is a choice for the court between a short ban or points. 81 in a 50 limit is in the top band of seriousness and that band begins at 76mph. The choice of sentence is either a ban of between 7 and 56 days or 6 points. The strong likelihood is six points but if the court is considering a ban you will be able to tell them what effects this will have on you or others. Note that you do not have the right to make a formal "exceptional hardship" argument (that is only available for those facing a "totting up" ban) but the court will listen to anything you have to say. You can then save the lawyer's fee to put towards your fine and costs. This will be a week's net income, a Victim Surcharge of 10% of the fine (minimum £34) and £85 costs.

Some people think that I make them feel stupid. To be fair, they deserve most of the credit.
