"Labour councillor says it is outrageous"

But Labour are not different from Conservatives when it comes to using parking controls as cash-cows.

When you choose who to vote to in local elections, it isn't based on parking policy, as there is none.

To be honest round where I live, parking enforcement is very light touch, and nobody complains. Only real chance of getting a PCN is in a council car park.

Since the local area went decrim there hasn't be a single PCN issued (Based on an FOI response - that's in about 7 years) in my village (4000 people - more a suburb really), we do have a fairly law abiding population though and the only real parking issues are round the school and its mostly parking on the zig zags outside which the PCSO's can enforce although ironically (as they are there for safety) it's where the school bus parks.

I think the surprise for many Barnet resident was that the council even considered the refund given their draconian parking regime which hit the press on many occasions.
