Hi any advice greatly needed,
I received a speeding fine last December which I paid in time £100. Shortly after I moved address, in February I registered the car with the dvla to my new address and my insurance company. Today bailiffs were at my old address (parents house) with a fine looking for over £600 in court costs. I rang the courthouse and they said they never received payment or my licence for points. I never sent my licence off for points it didn't say had to when I paid my fine to an automated service over the phone. I checked my bank and 6 months after I paid my fine it was refunded back in to my account? I have to appear in court next week apparently to sort this out. I never received the original letters as its been nearly a year now since the original offence.
what should I do??

If you read the paperwork carefully you would have found you had to send off your licence too.

Yup, that's totally normal when the conditions were not met. Then the matter is referred to court.

What are you appearing in court for? A Statutory Declaration?

The SD will remove the conviction. Then you'll be asked how you plead - I suspect that will be guilty.

You will be immediately sentenced. You can ask for them to consider a fixed penalty equivalent sentence and no costs order - the best you can get is £70 fine, £30 surcharge and no costs.

The worst will depend on the excess - it may be more than 3 points and you could have to pay £85 costs, income-related fine and surcharge of 10% of the fine (min £30).
