Good Afternoon everyone,
I was stopped mid July by a roadside officer for not wearing a seat belt. I had just reversed out of off road parking and had traveled no more than 20 metres when the officer appeared from behind a building on a side road. i I pulled into the road and another officer came to tell me why I had been stopped, I explained that I had just reversed out of the parking area and was in the process of putting my seat belt on, he told me that I would be charged with not wearing a seat belt. He went away for a few minutes then came back with a piece of paper telling what would happen next, that was all I received from him, no ticket was issued and I signed nothing other than his notebook to say I had not given an excuse for not wearing a seat belt. I have written to the MET police asking for a copy of my part of the ticket but they have refused to supply me with it unless I want to take the matter to court. Can I still be charged even though I have not signed for or taken my copy of the recorded offence? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Leigh |

There is no obligation to give you any "ticket" at the time of the stop.

If it were otherwise, everyone would simply refuse to take or sign the paperwork.

It will simply be a fixed penalty fine, with no points.

For completeness, a £100 fixed penalty with no points.
