Hi guys,
I need some help i was travelling from leeds to sheffield meadowhall, it was very windy when i crossed J35 i got the sign saying 60mph due to wind on the bridge i reduced the speed to 60 then i moved to 4th lane which is an exit to J34 meadowhall, when i was about to approach the exit the speed limit again reduced to 40mph, Because bridge was after the J34 so i was thinking that the speed limit does not implement on me but just before the J34i saw camera flashed on me i am not sure if it was front or back but it definitely camera which flashed. Now i am worried that i will get speeding ticket. The speed which was displayed on the board was actually for the people who were driving toward south and crossing the bridge. |

Was this limit shown in a red circle on an overhead gantry? If not, it was advisory.

Was it these signs?
There's a HADECS3 on that gantry - the limit applies to all lanes. This post has been edited by Jlc: Sun, 9 Feb 2020 - 17:52 -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver

I know exactly which gantry you mean, and I passed it yesterday displaying a 40mph speed limit, yes it's a mile or so before the bridge, but the 40mph limit is at the gantry, not for the motorist to guess where it applies from as they approach the Tinsley Viaduct.
Regardless of your direction, the 40 limit applied and I'd be expecting a ticket within the next 14 days if you are the registered keeper. The HADECS 3 cameras on those gantries are flashing away like there's no tomorrow, I see it go off nearly every time I take a trip up / down the M1 which is at least twice a day, I'm not sure how people don't see the red sign and the big yellow camera on the nearside. |

Yes i saw the speeds unfortunately i misread the signs as they were alerting the hazard on the bridge. I am worried because i got 3 points already 3 years ago since then i was driving very carefully. Whats the best action to take if i receive the ticket. I am willing to pay the fine but worried about points |

Well if it turns out you were going too fast for a course, your previous points will be expired or about to expire so you'll be back on three point again. Speeding points stay on your licence for 4 years but they're only "active" for three.

Ok if i receive a letter then can i request the relevant authority to reconsider and not to put points instead can pay higher fine just because of very honest mistake never had any accident in my 14 years due to very careful driving. |

Why don't you wait and see if you get offered a course? You don't know the exact speed you were going at until you get the letter, for all we know you were within the threshold for a course. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php
