Some advice please...

I've received 3 separate NIP's, same camera I think, exceeding 40mph, very early in the morning heading to work (new job, don't know the area) camera doesn't flash, I'm in a hire car so by the time the 1st NIP got to me, I'd already been caught 3 times

Is Court the only option?

We need more information to be able to advise.

What were the speeds?
How many points have you already got?
Done a speed awareness course in the last 3 years

I've zero points. So this would mean potentially 9 points

Yes, I've completed a speed awareness course within 3 years

Speeds were 52, 51 & 46

So yes that will be 9 points. Won't go to court unless you want it to, however you won't get less than 3 points for each offence.

So it's either take the points on the chin or contest in court?

Pretty much, but what would use in court as a defence? Do you have any reason to believe the speeds detected to be incorrect or that the speed limit signage is defective in any way?

The road is a mixture of national speed limit average cameras, 50 mph average cameras and 40 mph cameras

It's just a bitter pill to swallow as I would have obviously been aware of them the 1st time, though it caught me a further 2 times before I was actually aware of the offence

There is no requirement on the authorities to make speed cameras visible. So going to court will almost certainly result in the same 9 points but the fines and costs will be way higher then the fixed penalty total.

So on the chin it is then by the looks of things. Just didn't know if the courts offer any kind of descretion

Unlikely, they will follow the sentencing guidelines.

You could write and ask them to consider dropping one or two of the offences on the basis you didn’t get notification to rectify your behaviour before the first NIP arrived.

They don’t have to but don’t ask don’t get. You are expected to drive within the limit at all times and don’t need ‘warnings’.

The court would have to endorse at least 3 points for each.

Could there be more?

What is important is not when you did the course but whether the offence for which you did it was within three years
