Hello,
I was flashed yesterday on the M1 by a HADECS camera in Hertfordshire doing 101 mph (confirmed with dashcam GPS, speedo read 105 mph). Stupid of me as I'm usually very careful but I have a lot going on at the moment and was stressed/in a rush. I have a few questions I hope people can help me with: I was changing from lane 3 to 2 when it flashed and it only flashed once, does this affect anything? When it flashed there was a car immediately to my left slightly behind me in lane 1, are HADECS affected much by line of sight issues because they stick out from the side of the gantry and aren't overhead? I was accelerating quite harshly at the time from about 80 mph to overtake, does the HADECS detect your speed once (at the start of the road markings) and then take a picture or does it average it out over the road markings until it flashes? There was no variable speed limit shown and last year I got flashed on the M25 by a HADECS doing 90 mph and did not receive any NIP, am I likely to get one now from people's experience with Hertfordshire Police? Has anybody also ever heard of receiving an FPN and not summons for doing 101 mph? I have 3 points for speeding from 2017, if I do get a ban how long am I looking at for doing 101? Thanks in advance for your help! |

HADECS 3 measures your speed once, using radar and then takes one photo (on flash) when it predicts the car will cross the check line, if the car is crossing it then that corroborates the radar reading.
You won’t ever get an FPN, a conditional offer of fixed penalty (which is what is sent by post as an FPN cannot be) won’t be offered for that speed. -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!

It is therefore possible that at the time of the radar reading I was actually doing a few mph less than 101, maybe 95-97 mph. Is it possible to receive a conditional offer of fixed penalty below 100? |

Usually offered up to 95mph. (Court at 96)
if I do get a ban how long am I looking at for doing 101? 6 points is more likely but a ban of 2 or 3 weeks if so. -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver
