Hi Guys,

I recently 'caught up to' and 'passed' one of the British Transport Police Vans with the roof mounted cameras. I was in a totally other place, god knows how I never seen it! Anyway, can these vans catch you speeding whilst they're in motion too?

Excuse my ignorance, but I have no idea!

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

JD

AFAIK these are used for monitoring railway crossings and any incidents on the transport network

Any police officer can give evidence that you were exceeding the speed limit. A camera is not necessary.

I had thought that too. Although when you know you're in the wrong, that seed of doubt always creeps in;

'Could that camera be in operation?'

'Does it check for speed whilst in motion?'

Thanks for the quick response though! smile.gif

Perhaps 2 police officer's, not one, unless he can corroborate his opinion.

Well no, one officer gives evidence, but it needs corroboration either from a device or another officer to convict.

The BTP camera vans are used to monitor/provide evidence for breach of level crossing regulations i.e. red light offences at the crossings.

Amazingly, despite being very obvious, the get quite a few every year.
