Hi all after a bit of advice.

I've had a NIP come through in my name but the V5c for that vehicle is in purely a company name, no private name listed on it.

The story behind this is I brought a new van 19 plate first registered owner on the evening of the 27th March. I get a NIP in the new vehicle in the afternoon of the 29th. On the 30th I put a private plate onto the vehicle off my previous vehicle. The previous vehicle was registered in my personal name and not the company's name. Is it possible they've got the information mixed up between the two? The vehicle make and model is correct.

I work away so I have just got back to this NIP dated the 8th but it its obviously the 16th by the time I've opened it.

My view is that they should have the correct details on it to start with even though I am going declare myself as the driver as it is 99% certain that it was me driving it.

Another question if you don't mind is it's for 41 in a 30. Whats' likely to happen?

I should imagine it makes no real difference to anything but I suspect the reason I've managed to speed to this extent is it's a brand new vehicle with lots of sound insulation and very little feedback through the vehicle and every so often I find I have to reign in my speed as in my previous van the speed was far more obvious and my car is from 1986 and a soft-top so your very aware of the speed!

Hoping you can advise me so thanks in advance.

Sounds like they may have used the insurance database for details. It all depends on the details that were returned at the time of the PNC check - it can be quite hard to unpick with a cherished transfer.

No matter what, the s172 requirement to name the driver remains.

That excess will qualify for a course to avoid the points (unless Scotland) or at worst 3 points £100.

You can further investigate whether the necessary notifications were sent in a timely manner but they probably were.

Thanks for the reply.

As you say sent out within the 14 day (just as it would most likely have got to me on the 10th which I think would make it day 13!) as it was me that was away.

Hadn't thought about the insurance database! So not worth pursuing to get the correct details on the NIP then, just own up to it.

Unfortunately I won't be able to do the course as I attended one in Jan17.

Thanks for the help though.

The s172 is addressed to you - you have to respond, regardless.

You seem to want the NIP to be addressed to the company?

If the NIP was addressed to the company, then the company would have to name you as the driver, and you would be sent a NIP addressed to you, same difference really.
