Today when i was heading to asda in my friends car we came across a bin lorry parked on a slight bend to the right. My friend slowed down abit and tried to have a look to see if anything was coming so he could overtake he couldn't get a clear view of the road ahead but enought he felt confident to overtake. Just as he started to overtake he seen a car coming towards us so he quickly barked put the car into reverse which caused a loud crunch and reversed back onto his side of the road. There was no damage, no one behind us, the oncoming car didnt have to swerve and to the best of our knowledge brake harshly but she didnt look best pleased when she went past. My friend has been passed for just over 2 years and really doesnt want to get any points this would be his first offence. Do you think he will receive an nip and if so would it be for dangerous or careless driving

If every driver I'm not been best pleased with was prosecuted for dangerous driving, the roads would be empty....a non-event I suspect.

Absolutely no need to worry.
Maybe if there had been a coming together the Old Bill would possibly have contemplated charging someone. As it is, all part of the learning experience. Another part of the learning experience is to not panic when something goes wrong or spend sleepless nights over it.... Sh1t happens, part of life. |

why can't i post a comment on here, tried twice, and twice a no show. In those circumstances you might like to contemplate why those comments might have been removed - bearing in mind that the purpose of the forums is "to help the motorist", not simply to indulge your personal views of their conduct. -------------------- Regards,

Evidently you can... basically all i said twice to this comment was this,,,, 'he couldn't get a clear view of the road ahead',,,,,,,,, ''but you still went ahead with your maneuver.'' this was in reference to the op comments why can't i post a comment on here, tried twice, and twice a no show. '' not simply to indulge your personal views of their conduct'' lol people are always commenting on the actions of others on here. ''you might like to contemplate why those comments might have been removed'', isn't this what you say we shouldn't do. |

Make judgemental posts, they'll get removed. Carry on doing it, you'll get banned. Pretty simple, really. And that's as much disruption of the OP's topic as I'm willing to put up with. -------------------- Regards,

There was a gap between the lorry and the pavement you could see through as the road curved to the right so before he tried to move around he had a quick look through that gap and couldn't see anything just as he was starting to pull out and move around a car obviously came into frame and he reacted quickly. Like i said no damage the other driver to our knowledge didnt have to break harshly and definitely didnt have to make an sort of evasive manoeuvre they just continued along the road at 30mph. My friend is just worried that its a small town and the police have nothing else to do so even though no one was injured or the fact there was no damage they might still view it as dangerous. Also i had a question about nips. I know weekends count towards the 14 days and day after the incident being day 1. Do bank holidays also count towards the 14 days ?
