NIP Details and Circumstances
What is the name of the Constabulary? - Date of the offence: - October 2018 Date of the NIP: - 6 days after the offence Date you received the NIP: - 7 days after the offence Location of offence (exact location as it appears on the NIP: important): - Chorley Lane, Charnock Richard Was the NIP addressed to you? - Yes Was the NIP sent by first class post, second class or recorded delivery? - First If your are not the Registered Keeper, what is your relationship to the vehicle? - How many current points do you have? - 0 Provide a description of events (if you know what happened) telling us as much about the incident as possible - some things that may seem trivial to you may be important, so don't leave anything out. Please do not post personal details for obvious reasons - I am a carer for my mum who has severe Dementia. On the morning in question, I take my mum to a day centre and I was running late to pick her up as my car wouldnt start that morning. As she expects me for a certain time, if I am not there for that time she can get distressed and upset. Even though she has Dementia, she is very much in a routine with things, and if that routine is disrupted in any way, it affects my mum greatly. I was travelling along Chorley Lane going towards my mum's who lives in Eccleston. I was travelling slightly quicker than I normally would of done because of the problems with my vehicle that morning. I was caught doing 37mph in a 30mph at 09.18am. Consequently when I got to my mums, she was standing in her front window waiting for me. I travelled the same way on the way back, taking her to the day centre, and I was caught again on the same road doing 36mph at 09.45am. Any other day of the week I would not be travelling on this road at this time in the morning, and if I have had too as I know the road is a 30mph speed limit, I would be doing this speed. Unfortunately, as I was concerned about my mum, knowing that I needed to get to her as soon as possible, I was travelling slightly quicker than I should of been. I noticed the mobile speed camera van parked up on the left hand side of the road in a lay by, outside some houses, but by that time it was too late. I have been driving since 1987 and have never ever had a speeding fine. I am hoping I will be offered a speed awareness course, but as I have 2 seperate NIP's, will I be allowed to do 1 speed awareness course, or will I have to do 2. NIP Wizard Responses These were the responses used by the Wizard to arrive at its recommendation: Have you received a NIP? - Yes Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle concerned (is your name and address on the V5/V5C)? - Yes Did the first NIP arrive within 14 days? - Yes Although you are the Registered Keeper, were you also the keeper of the vehicle concerned (the person normally responsible for it) at the time of the alleged offence? - Yes Were you driving? - Yes Which country did the alleged offence take place in? - England NIP Wizard Recommendation Based on these responses the Wizard suggested that this course of action should be considered:
