Hi My first post and hope I am doing it correctly, The parking restriction pole was bent over and other cars were parked on the pavement, when I think about it, I should have used my initiative. I thought or presumed it was allowed because cars turning into and out of the road could create a dangerous situation if parked normally. Here are the details. I did appeal and was refused, I hope someone can help here. I did check there was plenty of room for people and room for the disabled and prams.

Please note the pole with the sign has moved in different directions.

‘ I thought or presumed it was allowed because cars turning into and out of the road could create a dangerous situation if parked normally. ‘

Not a defence I’m afraid.

You passed the sign and it was no more than 6 feet from your car.

Given that there is a blanket ban on pavement parking in London, if you park you must check that it is permitted. Given the proximity of the sign to your car, IMO no adjudcator would accept that the fault lies with the authority, you just weren’t diligent enough.

It happens.

Discount is attractive.

Parking on pavement has been banned in London for decades, so unless there's a sign allowing parking on pavement, you're bang to rights.

That's a shame, I think you could have successfully appealed this one. The sign isn't facing traffic, so it's guesswork which side of the sign is the "correct" one, also we haven't seen the resolution, and we know that the footway parking resolution is often non-existent or doesn't match the signage.
