The local rag has published an article about average speed enforcement, on the M27,which is due to go live, this Monday, 7th Jan.

I note that they suggest that changing lane will have no effect on the ability to enforce. I seem to recall a few years ago that Specs could only enforce one lane. Has the technology and type approval finally been updated?

Latest SPECS has been able to handle lane changes for several years. Can't find an official link.

It could always handle it, it wasn't type approved for it, but yes that oversite/loophole was fixed some time ago.

Happy New Year everyone.

SPECS3 has been developed for any lane in to any lane out since 2009 so the OP is only 10 years behind the curve. It was Home Office Type Approved in 2009.

SVDD, sometimes known as SPECS or SPECS1 has always been Type Approved for any lane in to any lane out. The issue with SVDD was that the entry camera was linked directly to an exit camera. Unlike the claim by Rookie that any lane in to any lane out was not Approved, there was no such restriction.
