Hi

Can anyone advise on average speed cameras on A2, I have received Notice of intended Prosecution for 57MPH on 50 average speed.

The documentation reports Bourne Road On Slip nr A2 Rochester way to A2 Rochester Way nr Bexley Lane off Slip DA5.

I believe the night in question I had to leave the A2 for roadworks and back on the same junction and accelerated up the hill hence the excess speed.

Any advice greatly appreciated

What advice would you like?

Average speed cameras simply make a note of the time the car passes each point, and knowing the distance between the points, easily calculate average speed.

Can anyone advise on average speed cameras on A2,

As with average speed cameras on any stretch of UK road, I would advise ensuring that your average speed between any 2 cameras is less than 110% +2mph of the speed limit.

If your question is really whether anyone knows of any magic bullet defences applicable to average speed cameras on the A2, without any further details, then the answer is no.

Why would doing that make you exceed the speed limit?

I realise there is no magical solution, I've always been careful on average speed and think the diversion confused me and i thought I was on motorway speed. I have never had the experience of a speeding ticket so just wanted to understand so I can avoid in future.

So simply name yourself as the driver, and assuming you've not done one in last 3 years, a SAC should result.
